A week in New York City

I got my boyfriend a trip to NYC for his 30th birthday.

Happy Birthday..

John Lennon's Memorial in Strawberry fields, Central Park.

                                                                 New York Pretzel

                                                                   Carrie's house...

                                     Having a giant Brooklyn beer at Rosemary's Tavern in Williamsburg.
                                                         On the ferry to Staten Island

We ended up spending a few night's at the Cake Shop on the lower east side -downtown Manhattan.
It's a cozy bar/ cafe/ record shop/ music venue with super friendly bar staff .

Another great art and music space we went to was Glasslands  in Williamsburg (apparently Thurston Moore puts nights on and preforms here regulary).

Fille De Joie 197 Grand St (between 1st St & Bedford Ave) Williamsburg www.filledejoienyc.blogspot.com
This is a true vintage gem in Williamsburg.
If I had my own shop this is what it would be like, fabolous boudoir interior, amazing hat boxes, great jewlery, delicate porceline figurines and seductive lingerie..

Over all I found most vintage shops overpriced and mainly 80's/90's  designer clothes, and not that many actual vintage pieces.  There was only two other shops that I'd recomend:

*Cheap Jacks Vintage on 303 Fifth Avenue (at 31st Street)  www.cheapjacks.com
Every singel item was steamed and seemed to be in great conditon. I've never seen so much vintage under one roof and it's definitaly the biggest vintage shop I've ever been to.
It was pretty pricey though despite the name. A simple 60's shift dress was around $100, but if you've got cash to spend I'd recommend spending an hour or two in there. There was plenty 20's and 30's evening dresses that cought my eye as well as amazing velvet coats and capes. If I could I would buy a whole new wardrobe from here.
* Beacon's Closet 88 n 11th street Williamsburg  www.beaconscloset.com
A mixed bag, a lot of modern high street, second hand and random vintage. But great prices on absolutly everything. Well worth a visit.
