Ophelia

Here's some photo's from the current Beyond Retro in store theme "Ophelia", inspired by the pre Raphaelite painting Ophelia by John Everett Millais.   

I really enjoyed dressing the mannequins for this theme. For the Red head mannequin I also drew inspiration from the traditional Swedish Hammerdal folk costume that my mum wore for her wedding. I wish I had a photo to show you, I will look for their wedding photo next time I'm home to show you what it looks like.

Over all when I was creating these look a big source of inspiration was my friend Kelly-Marie aka A Harem of Peacocks amazing sense of style who was the VM in Soho before me. She's moved to Bournemouth and I really miss her, but I keep track of her and what she's up to on her blog which is a wonderful vintage affair.

Home made presents are the best!

Last Christmas me and my boyfriend decided to not spend much on Christmas presents to one another so that we can instead save up and go on a nice holiday together. 

So I knitted him a cable knit scarf and made a friendship bracelet for his Christmas present. 

Now we're in mid March and it's still freezing so it turned out to be a very useful gift in this cold weather, and he looks utterly handsome in it too.

And he made me a little box out of origami paper for my jewellery and found me a vintage perfume bottle because he knew that my grandmother gave me one when I was a little girl which I've now long lost.
He's such a dream boat so this post goes out to him as we've just had our anniversary too.

This week in instagram pictures

We went to Pollocks Toy museum yesterday and saw some beautiful old toys.

I love weird looking dolls and doll parts so it was right up my street, and it was great inspiration for my own doll house that I'm working on too.

Creepy Judy and punch puppets

 Lovely lamps at Genesis cinema in Bethnal Green where we watched Cloud Atlas and had coffee and muffins last Sunday.

 I finally finished my doll house shelf that I showed you  a while back ...

and I also carried on painting and wallpapering my other doll house

Me and Casey who is the visual merchandiser at Beyond Retro's Dalston store changed over the front display window of her shop into the new"Ophelia" theme together.

 
And the final picture of this week is of my dear friend Christina and her boyfriend Damien who we celebrated last night on her 30th birtday ♥
